SoME® Skincare is Exempt from FDA Regulation SoME® Skincare is a product developed by Aesthetics Biomedical® Inc. for rejuvenation of the appearance and texture of the skin. It is based on the science of Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP. PRP refers to blood plasma that has been processed to make the concentration of platelets higher than normal. Platelets contain dozen of specialized cell growth and repair elements. PRP is obtained by drawing blood and spinning it to force the red and white cells to the bottom of a test tube, while the platelets remain suspended in the plasma.

Although blood-based drugs and medicine are regulated through the FDA Center of Biologics, PRP that is derived from and returned to the same patient is specifically exempted from regulation by U.S. Federal Law (21 CFR 1271). Only the test tubes, centrifuges and other devices used to derive PRP are regulated.
